What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?
I have been studying for the SAT, playing the Sims 4, and practicing for All-State
What are you doing to make the best out of your senior year?
Try and talk to my friends throughout the day to keep in touch and at least have some sense of normalcy.
How are you staying in touch with your classmates?
Usually through lunch time zoom calls or group chat texts
How has virtual learning changed the way you study?
I have been studying more because there is more of a definite time line of everything and I can do everything on my own pace.
How have you prepared for the challenges you are facing this school year?
I have prepared by making sure I have a decent workplace so I can concentrate and have my own space to do school work.
Describe your workplace at home.
I have my desk next to my window for lighting for zoom calls. I have laptop on top of my desk and I have my iPad on the side, next to my laptop to do math homework and also draw for art class. I have a small bookshelf next to me with all of my supplies, close enough to not get out of frame for anything.
What song has kept you motivated throughout quarantine? Why?
TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME by The 1975 because it is an upbeat song and having upbeat songs to listen to gets me motivated to do things, rather than just sit down all day.
What are your hopes for after you graduate from high school?
I hope to go to a four-year college, hopefully either in Texas or California. I plan to go into either biology or mathematics/physics.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
One piece of advice that I would give to the incoming freshmen is “dont slack off”. Having slacked off in freshmen year really affected my rank and GPA, so knowing what I know now, slacking off is not the best thing to do, and that advice would carry into college.
What are your top three university choices?
My first two universities are tied. They are either the University of Texas at El Paso or the California State University at Fullerton. My third choice would be Texas Tech in Lubbock.
