“On January 11th Harmony School of Innovation-El Paso campus hosted it’s annual Alumni Panel–an opportunity for students to interact with college attendees from Harmony Public Schools, and to have their questions answered concerning the day-to-day of college life. Panel participants were HSI graduates Brittani West from Notre Dame University, Jazmin Campos from Emory University, Edgar Aldama from The University of Texas at  El Paso, moderator Keisha Sepulveda-Rivera from Texas Tech university and HSA graduates Mistue Yoshimoto, Genesis Barraza, Carolina Lopez, and Zaira Perez, all from The University of Texas at El Paso. Students benefited from a host of thoughtful questions that answered questions regarding the college essentials, how to find the best fitting school, and the financial do’s and don’ts of college, including loans and grants. The purpose of the assembly was to encourage Harmony students to seek opportunities that college provides-including why, and how to do so. After the assembly was dismissed, students with lingering questions were encouraged to come up to panelist and speak one on one to learn more and ask more personal questions. The event was a positive growing experience for all involved.”

Harmon School of Innovation- El Paso will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on February 1, 2018.  NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. It is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessment because it provides a common measure of student achievement across the country. The results are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public. If your child is selected and you do NOT want them to test, please submit your request in writing to the front office.

Harmony College Fund Graphic

Harmony staff, teachers, and administrators have spent countless of hours preparing our students for college and each year approximately 85% of our graduating class enrolled in a post-secondary institution.

But, despite these impressive enrollment numbers, far too many of our low income and first-time college students drop out as they hit financial and circumstantial barriers such as the cost of attending college, that has increased by 36% in the last 10 years. Harmony Public Schools has 5,033 graduates to date and is projected to have 11,686 graduates by 2020, current funding sources are unable to meet even the current demands of these programs. Clearly, additional financial support is required.

We are asking our Harmony community to consider going beyond educational efforts, providing even greater assistance to our graduates through generous Harmony Giving Day contributions to the Harmony College Fund. All your donations will go towards helping our Harmony graduates to complete their higher education dreams and achieve their career aspirations by providing additional scholarships and direct college and career support services.

Let’s come together to reach our target of raising $50,000 on our first ever giving day.

Thank you for your generosity.
