The 2019–20 School Report Cards (SRCs) are now available on the Texas Education Agency’s website. The purpose of the SRC is to inform parents and guardians about a campus’ individual characteristics and its academic performance. Due to COVID-19, all campuses and districts received a label of Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster for the 2019–20 school year. Therefore, several data points have not been updated, including STAAR® and academic growth data.

If you are unable to access the report electronically and would like a paper copy of the report, please contact your school and ask for a paper copy of the 2019-2020 School Report Card.

Mark your calendar! It is that time again.

Re-Enrollment begins January 4th, 2021

All you need to complete your re-enrollment is your parent skyward login and upload a current proof of residence document. This is to ensure your child’s spot for the 2021-2022 school year.

Deadline to submit your form through Skyward is January 22, 2021.

Examples of Proof of Residency Documents may include:

    • A recently paid rent receipt
    • A current lease agreement
    • The most recent property tax receipt indicating home ownership
    • A current utility bill indicating the address and name of the resident
    • *Reminder
      •  P.O. Box address cannot be listed as an address (Bill must be within the last 60 days)

Questions About Re-Enrollment?

Why do I need to re-enroll?

By letting us know your student will be coming back to Harmony in 2021-2022, you’ll skip the lottery process and automatically guarantee your child’s spot for next school year!

Who should submit a re-enrollment notice?

The parent/guardian of any current Harmony student who plans to stay at the same campus next school year or who will advance to a “feeder” campus in the new school year (ex. advancing from elementary campus to nearest middle school campus). Students wishing to change to a new, non-feeder campus for other reasons (ex. closer to home) in 2021-2022 should apply through our open enrollment website before February 10.

How do I re-enroll?

Families can submit their re-enrollment notification January 4-22 through the Skyward link at the top of their campus website or by clicking the link in this email. Families without internet or Skyward access should contact their campus for assistance in re-enrolling.

What happens if a parent does not submit their re-enrollment information before the deadline?

If a parent misses the deadline to complete the re-enrollment process, then the student must apply during Open Enrollment (Nov. 1, 2020 through Feb. 10, 2021) at HarmonyTX.org/Apply.

¿Cómo me reinscribo?

What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?

I have mainly spent time with family and trying to catch up on shows.

What are you doing to make the best out of your senior year?

I have been putting in a better effort to finish off this year stronger than my previous years.

How are you staying in touch with your classmates?

I have been messaging a friend of mine and we have been talking about some of the classes that we have and what we are doing within them.

How has virtual learning changed the way you study?

Virtual learning has made me have better study habits.

How have you prepared for the challenges you are facing this school year?

I have prepared by keeping a notebook about each of my classes and the subjects that I go over in each.

Describe your workplace at home.

My workplace is a bit messy but I get around just fine. I have plenty of blank paper to my left and something to write with on my right.

What song has kept you motivated throughout quarantine? Why?

Generally anything that is rock or metal because that is the kind of music that keeps me pumped.

What are your hopes for after you graduate from high school?

I hope that I am able to get into the college of my choice so I can get a degree in the field that I hope to be working in, in the near future.

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

As much as it is no fun to study it does really help you to succeed. I should know, I learned a bit of the hard way.

What are your top three university choices?

UTEP, NMSU, and TTU

What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?

I’ve been reading a lot more. I’ve also been keeping track of my health by eating right and working out. Not only that, but I’ve volunteered at the Salvation Army next to the El Paso Coliseum to complete my community service hours (and just because I want to help the greater good).

What are you doing to make the best out of your senior year?

Really just keeping my head up. There’s no doubt in my mind that the situation in which we are in has taken a toll on my mental health, But I haven’t surrendered. That being said, I’ve used this time to strengthen myself and my bonds with my family.

How has virtual learning changed the way you study?

I’ve forced myself to become more hands-on than I was before the outbreak. Now I study myself by watching YouTube video tutorials or studying from various websites. I’m just a lot more independent now.

How have you prepared for the challenges you are facing this school year?

By strengthening my will and patience. I’ll admit that the concept of being in front of a screen for several hours at a time was rather daunting, especially when considering the fact that computer malfunctions and WiFi disconnections greatly annoy me. Now I roll with the punches and try to recover from any mistakes on my end. Schoology also offers some great self-paced learning opportunities, just in case I lose my WiFi connection for a while.

Describe your workplace at home.

It’s very organized and clean. I’m a bit OCD, so I can’t stand a cluttered working environment. However, I do like the fact that my room is decorated; it makes it feel more homely rather than an office.

What are your hopes for after you graduate from high school?

Hopefully I’ll be accepted into a 4 -year college/university of my liking (preferably UTEP).

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

Don’t stress yourself out. Stress only snowballs and makes even the easiest of assignments appear to be impossible to complete. If you’re having trouble, talk to your teachers; ask them for help. They won’t object, and I’m sure most will appreciate the effort. If push comes to shove, look up a video to help out.

What are your top three university choices?

University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) University of Texas at Austin

What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?

Time during quarantine seems to pass incredibly slow! I began going to the gym a few days a week in order to make sure that I stay active, especially during this time of constant sitting. I’ve read quite a few books over quarantine, as well as participated in a few volunteer activities. I also took up a small job over quarantine in order to help keep myself busy and earn a little bit of extra cash on the side. 🙂

What are you doing to make the best out of your senior year?

I believe in order to make the best out of senior year, we should all strive to be positive. Of course, these are unprecedented times which bring uncertainty and maybe even anxiety to our everyday lives. Even the slightest bit of positivity can go a long way!

How are you staying in touch with your classmates?

I stay in touch usually through text, sometimes through direct messages on various social media apps, and once in a while some friends and I would get together to eat lunch on a Zoom call as if we were in school! 😀

How has virtual learning changed the way you study?

Virtual learning has enabled me to become more self-sufficient with my study habits. I’ve learned to focus on the matter at hand and learned to take breaks every 30-40 min in order to keep my mind fresh and sharp. I’ve also learned never to underestimate a good study snack, as snacking for me personally helps me stay focused after hours of staring at a screen.

How have you prepared for the challenges you are facing this school year?

In order to prepare for the challenges I am facing this school year, I’ve learned to accept that my senior year will be a unique one. My senior year, along with countless of other student’s senior year around the world, is going quite differently than we imagined at the moment! I’ve began to learn how to manage my time during quarantine, a skill that has come quite useful during this school year.

Describe your workplace at home.

My workplace at home is one of my favorite places in my house. My desk faces a window which gives me something beautiful to look at during breaks or when my mind starts to wander. I like to surround myself with things that bring me joy, so a few pictures of my friends and my significant other as well as some. candles and even some rose quartz and amethyst. It might sound a little bit too much, but it honestly makes school and homework a lot more tolerable. 🙂

What song has kept you motivated throughout quarantine? Why?

A song that has kept me motivated throughout quarantine would be ‘Everything I Wanted’ by Billie Eilish. Although this song has a very dark undertone, upon closer inspection, it can be considered a hopeful song. The lyric, ‘it feels like yesterday was a year ago” spoke volumes about how quarantine impacted our perception of time.

What are your hopes for after you graduate from high school?

After graduating from high school, I aspire to be admitted to the nursing program at UTEP and finally me able to move out and live independently! I also hope to get my CNA certification before the end of 2021 so I would have the opportunity to work in a medical setting while I get my degree. 🙂

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?

Remember to enjoy your high school years! Stop worrying about trivial things and just enjoy the experience. Of course school, grades, and homework are important, but they’re not everything. Remember to breathe, remember that you are a living human being, and you need to take care of yourself too! 🙂

What are your top three university choices?

My top three university choices at the moment are UTEP, NMSU and EPCC.

Dear Harmony Parents and Guardians,

Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the current hospitalization rate of 32%, and the newly implemented Region 19 School Safe Zones, Harmony Public Schools – El Paso will not require 25% of students, that selected in person instruction, to return to campus on October 28th as previously communicated. In addition, teachers will continue to teach remotely.

We will however continue to offer learning centers for our students as needed. As a reminder, the learning centers, are a supervised “study hall” like setting where students complete their daily classwork remotely from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. If interested, please contact your campus for learning center availability.

For more information regarding the Region 19 School Systems COVID-19 on Campus Attendance plan, please visit www.esc19.net/Page/1564.

Thank you for your unwavering support. We will continue to keep you updated as new developments take place.

Sincerely,

Kamil Yilmaz, M.Ed., M.S.
