What have you been doing to pass the time during quarantine?
I’ve enjoyed getting back into reading, specifically starting and finishing the Harry Potter series for the first time. I also went hiking quite a bit to stay active and find acceptable ways to leave the house.
What are you doing to make the best out of your senior year?
I’m trying to look at the positives and acknowledge that online learning is what’s best and safest for everyone at the moment. It gives me the opportunity to sleep in quite a bit which I appreciate, eat more frugally during class, and hang out with my dogs during the breaks.
How has virtual learning changed the way you study?
Having to do everything online has forced me to not do my assignments in the bed but actually sit at a desk, which leads me to be more productive.
How have you prepared for the challenges you are facing this school year?
I’ve started working out at home which puts me in a good mood because I feel i’m doing something for myself and my mental health, which improves my motivation and drive at school.
Describe your workplace at home.
I have a desk in my room and downstairs so I can move locations when I feel I need a change of scenery or am feeling claustrophobic.
What song has kept you motivated throughout quarantine? Why?
Golden by Harry Styles is everything I love in a song and keeps me going on a daily basis.
What are your hopes for after you graduate from high school?
I hope to receive my bachelors degree in something related to the medical field/sciences, but at the moment am unsure of specifically what. I am planning on staying in Texas and applying for UT Austin, Baylor University, and UT El Paso.
What advice would you give to incoming freshmen?
Work your absolute hardest, join as many clubs and organizations as possible, because at the end it all pays off if higher education is your goal. Also, don’t forget to make lifelong friends, have fun, laugh, and make the absolute most out of your high school experience.
What are your top three university choices?
Baylor University, UT Austin, UT El Paso
